Losing All Respect for Johnny Mac

The truth?

In essence, Obama supported “age appropriate” sex-education for children as a means of teaching them what was proper or inproper touching, as well as to protect them against pedophiles, his campaign has said. Used in the context of the McCain campaign ad, however, Obama’s stance becomes another one of those cultural issues that seems designed to alienate the Illinois Democrat from more socially moderate voters.

And very quickly, the Obama campaign came out with a hard hitting response, pointing to a series of education accomplishments made by Obama, and calling McCain “perverse” for the latest attack.

“It is shameful and downright perverse for the McCain campaign to use a bill that was written to protect young children from sexual predators as a recycled and discredited political attack against a father of two young girls – a position that his friend Mitt Romney also holds. Last week, John McCain told Time magazine he couldn’t define what honor was. Now we know why,” said Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton. (from Sam Stein)

John McCain is better than this. He’s teetering on the scumbag scale here. I guess it’s not a surprise that Karl Rove has been confirmed as an official consultant of the campaign.

  1. i’ll step up to the plate here, jon.

first, november is a long way away. second, national polls don’t mean squat right now. based on a state by state electoral map, obama still has a decent lead. mccain is definitely gaining some momentum in the past week, but that’s already beginning to die down and I do think that the Palin pick will be a liability in the end, even though she’s proven to be a smart pick SO FAR, she still has much to prove to those who aren’t in the GOP back pocket.

McCain will have to win florida, ohio, and michigan to pull it off and I don’t think that’s likely. But we’ll see. maybe i’m totally full of shit. ha.

  2. I, too, am getting nervous. My normal unwavering optimism is getting abused by the McCain campaign, and the drop in oil prices, which will give the GOP another little surge. Ugh.

But, a lot can happen between now and Nov 4. I’ll just make another contribution to Obama for America 🙂
